{"id":452,"date":"2020-05-15T21:30:40","date_gmt":"2020-05-15T21:30:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/linkonlearning.com\/?p=452"},"modified":"2021-03-01T19:50:50","modified_gmt":"2021-03-01T19:50:50","slug":"k8-virtual-school-offers-help-during-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/linkonlearning.com\/k8-virtual-school-offers-help-during-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"K8 Virtual School Offers Help During COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Free Enrollment for Ontario Frontline Workers&#8217; Kids<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Newmarket,\nOntario (May 15, 2020)<\/strong>\u2013Due\nto COVID-19, Link On Learning\u2019s K8 Virtual School (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.k8vs.ca\">www.k8vs.ca<\/a>) is offering free enrollment for the\nrest of the school year to a limited number of Ontario frontline workers&#8217; kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enrollment is available immediately for kindergarten to grade 8 students so they can finish the 2019-2020 school year with the desired learning outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The online\nclass is fully supported by an Ontario certified teacher. Students have a full\ntimetable of self-paced lessons that include regularly scheduled online\ncollaboration with the teacher and rest of the class. The class size is kept\nsmall so each student can receive the attention they need. As a result, space\nis limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re doing\neverything we can to help the community,\u201d said Janice Frohlich, who is the\nPresident and School Principal. \u201cWe understand that frontline workers are under\na lot of pressure right now, so if we can help them by providing a little extra\nsupport, we\u2019re really happy to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify,\nstudents must be in Ontario and have at least one parent working as a frontline\nworker during the COVID-19 pandemic. Qualified frontline workers include, but\nare not limited to, essential service workers such as health care\nprofessionals, first responders, grocery store clerks, and security personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students should\nbe prepared to work a full school day online and must have the required\nequipment, including the following: a computer or laptop with keyboard and\nmouse, Google Chrome Web Browser with Adobe Flash, Adobe PDF Reader, MS Word,\nand a good Internet connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to\noffering free enrollment for the children of frontline workers, Link On\nLearning\u2019s K8 Virtual School is also offering subsidized tuition for other\nstudents. There are a limited number of subsidized tuition seats available with\nregular tuition reduced from $385 per month to $230.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Link On\nLearning is an Ontario online private school for kindergarten to grade 8\nstudents. It was established as Ontario\u2019s first online private elementary\nschool in 2002.
